 The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk & Promenade, located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, officially opened in May 2010 at a cost of nearly $6.4 million and runs 1.2 miles (1.9 km) along the oceanfront from the Pier 14 at 14th Avenue North to the 2nd Avenue Pier at 2nd Avenue North. National Geographic has ranked Myrtle Beach Boardwalk number three in the United States, while Travel and Leisure ranked the boardwalk number two.

Throughout the summer, the popular Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is home to festivals and events, including Ocean Boulevard's Hot Summer Nights located at Plyler Park in the heart of the downtown area. Always a family favorite, the boardwalk provides oceanfront views of the pristine beach line, numerous shops and restaurants along its path, and is divided into three different sections:

Ø  The northernmost portion winds down from the 14th Avenue North Pier to Plyler Park.
Ø  The mid-section is located from Plyler Park to the former Pavilion Amusement Park site at 8th Avenue North and encompasses more of a carnival-like atmosphere with oceanfront dining and businesses.
Ø  The southernmost end of the boardwalk leading up to the 2nd Avenue pier has a meandering oceanfront park.

ü  Travel and Leisure magazine, featured today on the Today Show on NBC, named the new Myrtle Beach boardwalk among the best in the U.S.
ü  The Boardwalk, a 1.2-mile span running between the ocean and a myriad downtown Myrtle Beach hotels, restaurants and attractions, opened in May.
ü  Travel and Leisure magazine chose the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade for its mix of leisure and entertainment. The boardwalk came in second on the list of 11 top boardwalks.
