Grand Canyon - Nature Wonder
Grand Canyon National Park - West Rim
The Grand Canyon is
a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in the United States in the
state of Arizona. It is contained within and managed by Grand Canyon National
Park, the Hualapai Tribal Nation, and the Havasupai Tribe. It is
considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
Because it was created by the natural forces of
wind and water erosion over a long period of time. Nearly two billion years of
the Earth's geological history has been exposed as the Colorado River and its
tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the
Colorado Plateau was uplifted. While the specific geologic processes and timing
that formed the Grand Canyon are the subject of debate by geologists, recent
evidence suggests the Colorado River established its course through the canyon
at least 17 million years ago. Since that time, the Colorado River continued to
erode and form the canyon to its present-day configuration. Grand Canyon is
classified as West Rim, North Rim, South Rim.
Ø The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long
Ø The width ranges from 4 to 18 miles (6.4 to 29 km)
Ø The depth is over one mile (1.83 km) (6,000 feet /
1,800 metres)
Ø Majority is housed within Grand Canyon National Park
Places I have visited in Grand Canyon (West Rim)
- Boat Cruise in Colorado River
- Eagle Point (Sky Walk)
- Guano Point
And finally we dropped in the Eagle Point to
see the SKY WALK. The trip was awesome and we explored lot in the Grand
Canyon and it gives the mind thought to come again to canyon.
Our tour was simply amazing.
From start to finish, everything was arranged for us as we explored the
breathtaking Grand Canyon. From the helicopter ride through the canyon to the
pontoon boat cruise up the Colorado River, in one day . (Another mark-able day in my dairy) The date is wrongly set in the camera , The actual date took on these photos are 23-12-2012
