Stone Oak Ecology : Stone Oak Park is located on the Balcones Escarpment, which is in the hill country Biome. It is also on the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone. The surface geology of the area is dominated by Edwards Limestone. The original landscape of the Biome was dominated by grassland savannah, rich in plant species with forested areas limited mostly to steep slopes, drainage and waterways.

Snake Chase Trail is a 3.4 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located in Stone Oak Park near San Antonio, TX that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and birding and is accessible year around.
