Nagoor Naganathar Temple
Nagore is also very famous for the Lord Shiva Temple as it is one of the Rahu - Kethu Stalam. (Rahu Kethu Kala sarpa Dosha Nivarthi Sthalam)
Naganatha Swami Temple at Nagore is regarded as an important shrine in the Puranas.
According to the Legend, the Great Serpent, Adhisesha worships Shiva on
Maha Shivarathri at
Nageswara swami Temple Kumbakonam,
Nageswara Swami Temple at Thiru Nageswaram,
Seshapureeswarar Temple at Thiruppaamburam and finally at
Naganatha Swami Temple, Nagore.
A five Tier Raja Gopuram adorns the entrance and a majestic Nandi is seen in the front Mandapam. Beautiful images of Gaja Samharamurthi, Bhikshadana, Ekapadha Murthi,Ganga Visarjana Murthi and Sarabeswara are seen in the front side of the Gopuram. People visiting Thirunallaru should not miss visiting this sacred Temple.
Lord Brahamma, Indira, Moon, Sage Durvasa, Saptha Rishis, Rudrasanma, Andhana and other noted souls had worshipped Lord Shiva during all the Yugas in this holy land. Serpent King Nagaraja was relieved of his sin in this holy place only. The holy spring Chandra Theertham was created by planet Moon. Any one performing Shrardha for the ancestors, do charities etc. here shall reap the benefits of doing such rituals in the Holy Gaya.

To Reach : Nagore is a small town in the
Nagapattinam District, Tamil Nadu, India. It is located approximately 12 km
south of Karaikal and 6 km north of Nagapattinam. The Nagur shiva temple is on
the Nagapattinam - Karikal Road. The devotee has to get down at the Theradi bus
stop and walk a km to reach the temple. (Very close to famous Nagore Dharga)
