Pier 39 - Fisherman's Wharf

Pier 39 is a shopping center and popular tourist attraction built on a pier in San Francisco, California. Pier 39 was first developed by entrepreneur Warren Simmons and opened October 4, 1978.

At Pier 39, there are shops, restaurants, a video arcade, street performances, an interpretive center for the Marine Mammal Center, the Aquarium of the Bay, virtual 3D rides, and views of California sea lions hauled out on docks on Pier 39's marina. The marina is also home to the floating Forbes Island restaurant. A two-story carousel is one of the pier's more dominant features, although it is not directly visible from the street and sits towards the end of the pier. The family-oriented entertainment and presence of marine mammals make this a popular tourist location for families with kids.

From the pier one can see Angel Island, Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Bay Bridge. Blue and Gold Fleet's bay cruises leave from Pier 39. The 45-acre complex is located in San Francisco, two-blocks east of Fisherman’s Wharf at Beach Street and The Embarcadero.

Telescopes are placed along the location's perimeter road for viewing the sights. PIER 39 is the "Best Place to People Watch San Francisco" as voted by the San Francisco Chronicle's Readers' Choice competition.

Fisherman's Wharf is a neighborhood and popular tourist attraction in San Francisco, California. It roughly encompasses the northern waterfront area of San Francisco from Ghirardelli Square or Van Ness Avenue east to Pier 35 or Kearny Street. The F Market streetcar runs through the area, the Powell-Hyde cable car lines runs to Aquatic Park, at the edge of Fisherman's Wharf, and the Powell-Mason cable car line runs a few blocks away.

How To Reach : The pier is located at the edge of the Fisherman's Wharf district and is close to North Beach, Chinatown, and the Embarcadero. The area is easily accessible via the historic F Market streetcars.

Muir Woods National Monument

Muir Woods National Monument is a unit of the National Park Service on the Pacific coast of south western Marin County, California, It is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and 12 miles (19 km) north of San Francisco and part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It protects 554 acres (224 ha),of which 240 acres (97 ha) are old growth Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) forests, one of a few such stands remaining in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Muir Woods National Monument is an old-growth coastal redwood forest. Due to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, the forest is regularly shrouded in a coastal marine layer fog, contributing to a wet environment that encourages vigorous plant growth. The fog is also vital for the growth of the redwoods as they use moisture from the fog during droughty seasons, in particular the dry summer.

One hundred and fifty million years ago ancestors of redwood and sequoia trees grew throughout the United States. Today, the Sequoia sempervirens can be found only in a narrow, cool coastal belt from Monterey, California, in the south to Oregon in the north.

The main attraction of Muir Woods are the coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) trees. They are known for their height, and are related to the giant sequoia of the Sierra Nevada. While redwoods can grow to nearly 380 feet (115 m), the tallest tree in the Muir Woods is 258 feet (79 m). The trees come from a seed no bigger than that of a tomato. Most of the redwoods in the monument are between 500 and 800 years old. The oldest is at least 1,200 years old.

Ghirardelli Square once featured over 40 specialty shops and restaurants. Some of the original shops and restaurants still occupy the square.

The Ghirardelli Chocolate Company is a United States division of Swiss confectioner Lindt and Sprüngli. The company was founded by and is named after Italian chocolatier Domenico Ghirardelli, who, after working in South America, moved to California. The Ghirardelli Chocolate Company was incorporated in 1852, and is the second-oldest chocolate company in the United States, after Baker's Chocolate.

பாண்டிய மன்னனின் உத்தரவுப்படி இச்சா சக்தியாகிய திருவுடை அம்மனை வடிவமைக்க தேர்ந்த கல் ஒன்றைச் சிற்பி, மலை உச்சியில் இருந்து எடுத்துக் கீழே கொண்டு வரும்பொழுது. பிடி நழுவி உருண்டு அந்த கல், மூன்று பாகங்கள் ஆனது. மனம் பதறிய சிற்பி தன் கைகளைத் துண்டித்துக் கொள்ளப் போனபொழுது, பராசக்தி தரிசனம் கொடுத்தருளினாள். “இச்சா சக்தி, ஞானசக்தி, கிரியா சக்தி என மூவராக உருக் கொள்ளவே மூன்று பகுதிகளாக ஆனேன். மூவரின் உருவங்களையும் வடித்து, மூன்று கோயில்களிலும், நிறுவி விடுவாயாக’ என உத்தரவிட்டு மறைந்தாள். அப்படி காட்சி தந்த தினம் பௌர்ணமி ஆகும்.
சென்னையைச் சுற்றிலும் “ஃ’ வடிவத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள இந்தக் கோயில்களை இணைக்க அரசர் காலத்தில் சுரங்கப் பாதை அமைக்கப்பட்டது. இன்றைக்கும் மேலூரில் இந்தச் சுரங்கப் பாதையைக் காணலாம்.

திருவுடை அம்மன் (மேலூர்): ஸ்ரீ திருமணங்கீஸ்வரருக்கு உடனுறை தேவியாக மேலூரில் காட்சி தரும் திருவுடையம்மன் முப்பெரும் தேவியரில் மூத்தவராக மகாசக்தியாக விளங்குகிறார்.
தலவரலாறு: ஒரு காலகட்டத்தில் அடர்ந்த காடுகளுக்கும், முட்புதருக்கும் நடுவில், புற்று வடிவத்தில், சர்ப்பம் சூழ, சிவலிங்கம் சுயம்பு உருவாய் இருந்ததை, அந்த ஊர்ப் பெரியவர்கள் கண்டுபிடித்தனர். ஒரு பசு தினமும், இந்தப் புற்றின் மேல் பால் பொழிவதையும், நாகம் குடித்துச் செல்வதையும் பார்த்து, அந்தச் சுயம்பு லிங்கத்துக்கு திருமணங்கீஸ்வரர் எனப் பெயர் சூட்டி வழிபட்டு வந்தார்கள்.
ஸ்ரீதிருமணங்கீஸ்வரர் சுயம்புலிங்க வடிவில் ஐம்பொன் கவசம் அணிந்து கண்கவர் தோற்றத்தில் காட்சி தருகிறார். ஈஸ்வர சன்னதிக்கு எதிர் வட திசையில் தெற்கு நோக்கி ஸ்ரீதிருவுடையம்மன் அழகே உருவாக அமைதியாகக் காட்சி அளிக்கிறார். இந்தப் பகுதியில் எங்கு நோக்கினாலும், வேம்பும், பாம்பும் மிக அதிகமாகக் காணப்படுகிறது.
ஆடிப்பூரத்தன்று நடக்கும் 108 பால் குடங்கள் அபிஷேகம் கண்கொள்ளாக் காட்சி. பங்குனி உத்திரம் திருக்கல்யாணம், சிவராத்திரி - நவராத்திரி சிறப்பு பூஜைகள், கார்த்திகை சொக்கப்பனை ஏற்றுதல் என எந்நாளும் வைபவம்தான். இந்த அம்மனுக்கு மஞ்சள் - குங்குமக் காப்பு, மலர் ஆடை அலங்காரம் செய்து வேண்டிக் கொண்டால் மங்களக் காரியங்கள் கைகூடுமாம்!

ஸ்ரீவடிவுடை அம்மன் (திருவொற்றியூர்): ஞானசக்தியாக, வடிவுடை நாயகியைத் தொழுவோருக்கு அற்புதமான மணவாழ்க்கை அமையும். பௌர்ணமிகளில், அதுவும் வெள்ளிக்கிழமை பௌர்ணமி நாட்களில் பக்தர் கூட்டம் அலை மோதுவதால் நாள் முழுதும் நடை திறந்திருக்கிறது.
அகத்தியருக்குக் கல்யாண சுந்தரராய் ஸ்ரீ ஆதிபுரீஸ்வரரும் வடிவுடையம்மனும் திருமணக் கோலத்தில் காட்சி தருவது பரவசமான நிகழ்வு. இங்கு வடிவுடை அம்மனுக்கு தங்கரத பவனி நடைபெறுவது அற்புதமான கொடுப்பினை. தினமும் திருவிழா போல் அம்மனுக்குப் புஷ்பாஞ்சலியும், மஞ்சள் - குங்குமக் காப்பும் நடத்தப்பட்டுக் கொண்டே இருக்கிறது.

தொண்டைமாமன்னன் பைரவர் துணையுடன், தன்னை எதிர்த்துப் போர் புரிந்த குறும்பர்களை ஒடுக்க திருமுல்லைவாயல் வந்தான். அவர்களை எதிர்க்க இயலாமல் திரும்பும்பொழுது, தான் வந்த யானையின் கால்கள் முல்லைக் கொடிகளால் சுற்றிக் கொள்ள, வாளால் கொடிகளை வெட்டும்பொழுது உள்ளே இருந்த சிவலிங்கத்தை சேர்த்து வெட்டிவிட, தன்னை மாய்த்துக் கொள்ளப் போன மன்னனைத் தடுத்தாட்கொண்டார் இறைவன்.
நந்தி தேவரை அரசனுக்குத் துணையாக அனுப்பி, குறும்பர்களை அழிக்க வைத்தான். அதற்கு வெற்றிக் காணிக்கையாகத் தெண்டைமான் கொண்டு வந்து வைத்த இரண்டு வெள்ளெருக்குத் தூண்களை இன்றும் கருவறையின் முன் காணலாம்.
பகைவர்களை விரட்டத் திரும்பிய நந்தி பகவான் இன்றும் திரும்பிய கோலத்தில்தான் இருக்கிறார். வெட்டுப் பட்ட காரணத்தால் சிரசில் அபிஷேகம் கிடையாது. இறைவன் திருமேனி சந்தனக் காப்பு இடப்பட்டு இருக்கும்.

அசுவினி முதலான் 27 நட்சத்திரங்களும் செய்த பாவம் நீங்க கொடியிடை நாயகியை வணங்கி சாபம் நீங்கிய இடம். இந்திராணி இத்தலத்து அம்மனை வழிபட்டு இந்திரனை மீளப்பெற்ற தலம்.
கேட்டாலே முக்தி தரும் இத்தலத்தில் சூரியன் முதலிய ஒன்பது கோள்களும் மக்களுக்கு இசைவாக வேண்டியதை அளிப்பதால், நவக்கிரகங்களுக்குத் தனி சன்னிதி கிடையாது. இறைவனும், இறைவியும் லிங்கத்தில் மறைந்து அருளிய நாள் வைகாசி மாதம், பௌர்ணமி, கடக ராசி, விசாக நன்னாள் ஆகும். ஆண்டுதோறும் இன்னாட்களில் பிரம்மோத்சவம் நடைபெறுகிறது.

The Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina District of San Francisco, California, is a monumental structure originally constructed for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition in order to exhibit works of art presented there.

The Palace of Fine Arts, with its peaceful lagoon set against the dramatic backdrop of Roman arches and a large rotunda, evokes images of classical European architecture. Built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific exposition to display art, it looks like it has been aging in place for much longer. The Exploratorium, located at the Palace of Fine Arts, juxtaposes scientific exploration against the artistic milieu of the Palace.

A favorite place for picnics and wedding photographs, the bucolic setting provides a respite from the busy pace of urban life, and has long been a popular relaxation spot for locals and tourists alike. A large lawn bordering the lagoon is home to white swans, adding to the photogenic nature of the location. Attending an event at the 1,000 seat indoor theater on site, no matter how minor, always seems more grandiose in the majestic setting. The Palace of Fine Arts is a magical place at night, too, all dressed up in pretty lights.
