Queensboro Bridge


The Queensboro Bridge, also known as the 59th Street Bridge  – because its Manhattan end is located between 59th and 60th Streets – and officially titled the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, is a cantilever bridge over the East River in New York City.  It is toll free bridge mainly connects the neighborhood of Long Island City in the borough of Queens with Manhattan, passing over Roosevelt IslandFootpath walk over is available in the Queensboro bridge, we can enjoy the beautiful view of  Manhattan &  Roosevelt Island.

Cantilever : A projecting structure, such as a beam, that is supported at one end only and carries a load at the other end or along its length. Cantilevers are important structures in the design of bridges and cranes.




The Queensboro Bridge is a double cantilever bridge, as it has two cantilever spans, one over the channel on each side of Roosevelt Island. The bridge does not have suspended spans, so the cantilever arm from each side reaches to the midpoint of the span.

NYC Rockefeller Center


The NYC Rockefeller Center is a complex of 19 commercial buildings covering 22 acres (89,000 m2) between 48th and 51st streets in New York City, United States. Built by the Rockefeller family, it is located in the center of Midtown Manhattan, spanning the area between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987.





The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is a large Christmas tree placed annually in Rockefeller Center in mid-town Manhattan in New York City. The tree is erected and lit in late November or early December. In recent years, the lighting has been broadcast live nationwide on NBC's Christmas in Rockefeller Center show and scheduled for the Wednesday after Thanksgiving. The tree, usually a Norway spruce 69 to 100 feet (21 to 30 m) tall, has been put up every year since 1933. In 2013, the Christmas Tree Lighting took place on the 4th of December.




The 76-foot tree's 45,000 multi-colored LED lights sparkled on with the flick of a switch just before 9 p.m. Topping the 12-ton Norway spruce is a 9 1/2-foot-wide Swarovski star.

Saks Fifth Avenue unveiled their iconic holiday 3D light show to NYC and the world. The entire building comes alive with snowfall, ice skaters and the mysterious Yeti, who is rumored to live on the roof making snowflakes during the holiday season.  The show runs every three minutes from 5 pm -11 pm.

Columbia University


Columbia University in the City of New York, commonly referred to as Columbia University, is an American private research university located in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of Upper Manhattan in New York City. It is the oldest institution of higher learning in the State of New York, the fifth oldest in the United States, and one of the country's nine Colonial Colleges founded before the American Revolution.Columbia University was founded in 1754 as King's College by royal charter of King George II of England.

Low Memorial Library :

The architectural centerpiece of the campus is Low Memorial Library, named in honor of Seth Low's father. Built in the Roman classical style, it appears in the New York City Register of Historic Places. It has the Alma Mater statue in front of the building  The building today houses the University's central administration offices and the visitors center.



Columbia annually administers the Pulitzer Prize. The Pulitzer Prize  is a U.S. award for achievements in newspaper and online journalism, literature, and musical composition. It was established in 1917 by provisions in the will of American (Hungarian-born) publisher Joseph Pulitzer, and is administered by Columbia University in New York City. Prizes are awarded yearly in twenty-one categories. In twenty of the categories, each winner receives a certificate and a US$10,000 cash award. The winner in the public service category of the journalism competition is awarded a gold medal.

Fall Creek Falls


Fall Creek Falls is the highest free-fall waterfall east of the Mississippi River. The falls is located near Spencer, Tennessee in Fall Creek Falls State Park. A short trail leads from the parking lot to the top of plateau. And one more trail is available to reach the bottom of the falls. 



Fall Creek Falls State Park is Tennessee’s largest and most visited state park. The park encompasses more than 26,000 acres sprawled across the eastern top of the rugged Cumberland Plateau. Laced with cascades, gorges, waterfalls, streams and lush stands of virgin hardwood timber, the park beckons those who enjoy nature at her finest. Fall Creek Falls, at 256 feet (78 m), is one of the highest waterfall in the eastern United States. Other waterfalls within the park include Piney Falls, Cane Creek Falls and Cane Creek Cascades.

We enjoyed a lot in the Fall Creek Falls, but only disappointment is we have missed the huge water-flow in the falls. As i heard many trails are there around the Fall Creek state park, but we didn't have time to go around any trails.
