Thiruvenkadu - Sri Suvedharanyeswarar Swami Temple 

Swetharanyeswarar Temple (Budhan Sthalam) is a Hindu temple located in the village of Thiruvengadu near Poompuhar. The main deity is Lord Shiva - Swetharanyeswarar (lord of white forest) and the goddess is Brahma Vidya ambal. There is a separate Sannidhi for Budha (mercury). The temple is quite large and all four important Saivite saints have sung in praise of this lord.

Significance of the temple:

v  The Tiruvengadu temple has the pride of being sung by the Great Four, Thirugnanasambandar, Thirunavukkarasar, Sundarar and Manickavasagar.

v  This is the 11th Shiva temple on the northern bank of Cauvery river praised in Thevaram hymns (Paadal Petra Sthalam).

v  It is one of the shrines of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams - Shiva Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Tevaram poems.

v  This temple is especially known for its unique incarnate of Lord Shiva called "Agora Murthi". He is one of the main god who is being prayed in this village.

v  Indiran, Airavatam, Budhan, Sun God Sooriyan and Moon God Chandiran are said to have worshipped God Shiva here.

v  From the stone inscriptions found inside this temple, it is seen that the earlier chola kings Aditya Chola and Rajaraja Chola have made a lot of contributions to this temple.

v  It is the fourth Navagraha sthalam of the 9 Navagraha Temples around kumbakonam, is the abode of Bhudhan or Bhudha (planet Mercury).

v  Budhan is the planetary ruler for knowledge, music, astrology, Maths, sculpting, medicine and language skills. Wednesdays are very auspicious day .

Thiruvengadu village is also famous for its unique structure of pools in temples. This temple has 3 pools, 3 Gods. The sthala vrikshams are also three in number - Vilvam, Vadaval and Konrai. It is a belief that who takes bath in all these pools, the one will be free from their problems like diseases, delay in marriage, etc.,.

This Shiva temple is one of the 6 most sacred places on the banks of river manikanigai and Cauvery which is considered as equivalent to the Kasi temple at Varanasi. The other 5 shivasthalams are Thiruvaiyaru, Chaayaavanam, Mayiladuthurai, Thiruvidaimarudur and Thiruvanchiyam.

Keezhaperumpallam Naga Nathaswamy Temple

The Kethu Sthalam or Naganatha Swamy Temple is a Hindu temple in the village of Keezha Perumpallam, 3 kilometres from Poompuhar. The presiding deity is Ketu, a shadow planet. However, the main idol in the temple is Lord Shiva called as Naganatha Swamy.

Significance of the temple :

Ø  There is a separate sanctum for the special deity Sri Kethu Baghawan and is one among the Navagraha Stalams (The Nine temples for the NavaGraham or planets).

Ø  The temple presiding deities are Lord Naganathaswamy and his consort Soundaryanaki.

Ø  Naganathar temple - kethu sthalam at Keezhaperumpallam, which is 8 kms away from Thiruvenkadu Bhuthan Sthalam. This place is also called as Vanagiri.

Ø  Ketu is generally referred to as a “shadow” planet. He is considered as Tail of the Demon Snake.

Ø  Kethu prayed to Naaganaadhaswami and was blessed and rid of his sins by Lord Siva. It is rare to find Kethu with his head. At this sthala, he can be seen worshipping Lord Siva with his folded hands held high.

Annan Perumal kovil is a beautiful Village located in Nagapattinam District,Tamil Nadu State, India 7 Kms in south east of Sirkazhi.

This Village is the one of the 108 Vaishnava Divya Desams and the Mangalasasanam is being performed by the Thirumangai Alwar. This village is having 4 veedhis around Kovil and Kulam. This Village is an assortment of tranquility, serenity, quietude and innocence.

This Temple located in Gateway to Thirunangur Village. The temple complex has a single prakaram (closed precincts of a temple) and a separate shrines for Perumal, Thayar, Garudan, Anjeneya and Kumudavalli Nachiar, the wife of Thirumangai Azwar.

Kumuthavalli Nachiyar was found on the banks of the pond and brought up by a vaishanvite who later was married to the Thirumangai Alwar.
