Marakkanam (மரக்காணம்) is a coastal panchayat town in Viluppuram district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is well connected to the state capital Chennai and the nearby union territory of Puducherry by the East Coast Road.



Shri Boomeeswarar Temple -  ஸ்ரீ பூமீஸ்வரர் கோவில்  :  This Shiva temple is a very ancient one belonging to Chola period. It is located at the Junction of Marakanam - Thenpakkam Road with ECR Road .
